Why I Paint the Lion of Judah – And What It Means to Me

There’s something about the Lion of Judah that speaks to me on a soul level.
It’s not just a symbol — it’s a presence.
A roar.
A reminder.

As a Jewish artist, as an Israeli, and as a soldier who has seen both pain and pride up close — I carry this symbol deep within me. That’s why I paint it. That’s why it shows up, again and again, in my work.

What the Lion Means to Me

In our tradition, the Lion of Judah represents strength, leadership, and spiritual royalty.
But for me, it also represents survival.

Every time I paint a lion — whether it's roaring across a blue-and-white canvas or emerging from wild splashes of color — I’m not just painting power.
I’m painting identity.

That same sense of Jewish identity runs through my “Am Yisrael Chai” in Art – A Voice, A Symbol, A Flame, where words become visual strength.

The lion is Am Yisrael.
It’s you.
It’s me.
It’s our people — standing proud, unbreakable, and full of light, no matter what the world throws our way.

My Lion of Judah Paintings – What Makes Them Different

I don’t create these lions as soft illustrations or tame animals.
They’re alive. They’re fierce.
They’re full of spirit — because they come from mine.

Each piece is hand-painted on canvas, using acrylics, deep textures, and dynamic splash techniques that bring the lion to life. Many of them are done in blue and white, to echo the colors of Israel. Some include Hebrew words, like "Am Yisrael Chai" or "Strength" — blending ancient symbolism with raw modern energy.

Just like in my Hamsa Jewish art, the lion blends protection with pride — and reminds us who we are.

Collectors around the world, especially in Jewish homes throughout the U.S., tell me the same thing:
“It’s not just art. It gives the room strength.”

That’s the reason many Jewish families also choose Map of Israel & Israeli Flag in Jewish Art — it’s more than a shape, it’s a statement.

That’s why I paint lions.
To give you something that looks like courage feels.

Each piece is created in my studio in Herzliya, Israel.
I hand-paint every lion with intention, and every limited edition print is hand-embellished by me.

My mission isn’t just about animals or symbols — it’s about bringing emotional, hand-painted Jewish art into modern homes.

If you want something that’s real — that roars — you’re in the right place.
